Introduction

They can be anybody. They live normal lives, as a student, at school, behind a desk in an office. But late at night, when the sun has set and you can hear the rain pouring on the roof of the attic, they are still awake, thinking, designing, sitting behind a computer, drinking liters of coffee, working on their lifework. Nobody knows what they are doing. Nobody understands their obsession.

Looking for a place where they can talk to eachother, to people who understand them, they roam the internet. There they find places where they can meet and communicate. But still they work alone. Untill somebody said: "Why not work together, as a team. We can learn from eachother and we can all benefit from it. In the end, the results will be much better". And so they did. Who are they, you ask? They are the Allegro Game Programmers.

Occasionally they would hold competitions, to match their programming and designing skills to eachother. Now a new competition is coming. But this one is different. Not only programming and designing skills are important for this one, but also organisation, working together, team spirit. Because this competition is called:

The Allegro Team Competition.

The Allegro Team Competition is a competition for game programmers using the Allegro programming library. There have been other competitions for allegroids, eg. speedhack, sizehack and the golden keyboard award, but this one is different in one aspect. It is a competition for teams only. The purpose of the competition is not only to match the game programming skills of different people, but also to promote programming in teams, to improve the organisation skills involved. To make it even more interesting, the rules say that the team must consist of people from different countries. This makes it a true intercultural event, which will result in more tolerance, a better understanding of other cultures and a better world in general.

The competition will be just four days, from June 29 to July 2. You must provide full source code of the entry. See the rules page for more details.

The site you are viewing now is the official homepage of the allegro team competition. Here you can find the rules, entrants, and when the compo is over you can see here who has won and where you can download the entries.
