So, trains & time? Well, just yesterday I was thinking about doing a remake of Short Lines. Here it comes, then! Only I'm not sure about ASCII art, I'm not good at it (actually, I can hardly imagine how to do it, always was amazed by cracktros/intros).

I'm not sure, the ASCII art limits not only the possibilities but also the quality. I think I will try barking:) or try to find a trick to meet it.

Rules read!
- Time: Easy: Each level is a different Era and you should back the yours...
- Train: Easy: Any level would be inside a train...
- Help function: Easy: If press F1 show a help screen with keys and so...
- ASCII Art: Easy: One of the future levels would be all ASCII art...
Now, what game would I do? Thats a good question.

Maybe because everyone kept reloading the page in few second intervals? :)
Anyway, seems these are the rules:
#1 Time
#2 Railway/Trains
#3 in-game help
#4 ascii art
I do like them a lot myself. Now need to come up with an idea..

I suppose that printing a train time table would satisfy all rules but be somewhat lacking in gameplay ;-)

Oh, I forgot Australia was still on daylight savings!
I was remembering the team comp in 01 where it was DLS in Europe and the rules came an hour early, but this time I got it wrong!
Anyway, you won't see me in the logs, because I'm usually offline, but as usual check log.txt in my entry for a lengthy account of the highs and lows of speedgamedev.

I have an 8 page essay to write, plus other stuff I have to do, so I'm going to start a day later than it actually begins since I'll be working and sleeping the rest of Friday. :) Good luck everyone!

"Girlfriend : on vacation unfortunately "
Shouldn't that be 'fortunately'? :)
Anyway, It's been a rough week for me. I was hoping to get myself prepared beforehand, but "unfortunately", everything that could go wrong this week did. Got paged twice, forcing me to stay up two nights in a row! It also prevented me from finishing my homework that was due today! I've got a huge test tomorrow that I haven't studied for, so I can't think TINS until that is over. Anyway, how much time is left?
[EDIT]
Oooh, just found out there's only 13 hours left. That means it'll be starting at 5:00am for me. And that means It'll be another 12 hours before I can start! :(

Had a rough week at work, last days were 13 and 10 hour shifts. Going to catch up on some sleep now. Hope I wake before the start of TINS ;-)

This is going to be a hard one.
I never did a speedhack before, never even used Allegro before, and I have work most of Sunday. Yay!
But taking on the challenge should be fun enough :)

The moment of truth lingers closer! Just one day left. :)
I'm really nervous about the contest, to be honest. I've never done a *hack before, and I'm trying to absorb as much wisdom as I can before things get underway. I know it's more about the process than winning, but darnit, I want to win. :P
Since I'm working every day of the contest, time management will be crucial. I've calculated that if I use every spare hour I have (non-working && non-sleeping) I will have 18 hours total. Odds are I'll have to cut into my sleep time. 4 hours of sleep is more than enough, right? ;)

Well it's only one day away until the competition starts.
I can just think of all the things that can go wrong. Not being able to think of the code, taking too long to make the graphics, no music, but the good news is that I found out today that I have more time than I thought I did. I thought it was just all of Saturday, but in reality I have three days (although two of them are cut in half by other activities). So who knows, maybe this unexpected amount of time will help me with making the game much smother. So I'll stop writing and clean of my desk of clutter papers, to prepare for the upcoming competition theme.
Edit: What you'll clear these messages? oh well, at least I'll have these messages in the log with my project

OK, here's what we're gonna do. Since I have 0 time this weekend, I'll just do a remake of an extremely simple little I found the other day that has 20 seconds of gameplay and requires almost no graphics. Then I'll make up some ridiculous story around it to make it fit the rules. I estimate it will take 30 minutes to complete...

Better test now then during compo!
I may or may not lose a few hours in the beginning and in the end but losing %5-10 time shouldn't be that important. I hope I survive, this is my first time.
Edit: Looks fine:) Junk food, check! Warning people about forgetting my existence for three days, check! As a male getting rid of any biological burden that may interfere with my brain's stability (hopefully with someone's help!)..... pending!

Well folks, only one day left. I'm still wondering how many hours of sleep I will be able to get during TINS. I think the time has come to buy loads of coffee and stuff. And of course to get my coding-hands ready^^
See you later.

I'm going to have some trouble making graphics, as usual. Apart from that, I'm pretty sure that I am completely rusty after those six months working maths instead of doing useful things such as game programming.
Anyhow, I still need to buy some beer, chips and similar junk food, but also good food (I like to cook), then I'll be ready to TINS !
