uhgg this is the time all my favorit cartton(anime) shows are on. Its going to be a lot harder to program now.
guilt 00:39, 05 Mar 2006 GMT
This is so depressing.. Haven't done any REAL work yet...

Implemented a timer system, state based loop and did some cleanups...

:(

Ceagon 00:35, 05 Mar 2006 GMT
:sigh: Just got to the hardest part in my game so far:
Pathfinding.

Oh boy this will be a pain.
FalseMasterJ 00:22, 05 Mar 2006 GMT
I have finnished the help menu system.
Now I just need to put some text in it.
ahuillet 23:40, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Trying to implement bombs, but I'm really getting tired.

EDIT : bombs are now working. I need to code the thing to defuse them otherwise the game is unfinishable :p

EDIT2 : it is now possible to defuse bombs at very close range. My entry could be considered finish, but there is room for improvements, and I still have got quite a lot of time left. Bad luck, maths exams, you won't get my attention this time :p

w00t! This thing is really starting to look *nice*. Scrolling and wrapping are implemented, so now you scroll and wrap around, and with an interesting level, it's actually pretty fun just to mess with already! Like a crazy maze.

I'd post a screenshot, except that I tried to make one, and the colors were all screwed up, making the train invisible. Oh well. It really does look good, though.

Also, this now has more lines of code (1185) than all but two of the games/programs I've ever made. A dubious honor, because a lot of it is just "library" code and/or repetititive nonsense. But that's how it goes when one is in a hurry to finish.
Ceagon 23:24, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Crap. Just spent 30 minutes on trying to figure out why it wasn't drawing according to alpha... I was drawing like 200 'transparent' objects on top of eachother :rolls eyes:

Hey

A final update before I go to bed: I just got the railroad editor in. It's possible to build and remove tracks and confuse the trains running around :) That is already 4 seconds of gameplay right there.... Help screen is there with a little ASCII art, so I've already satisfied all rules. Now to finish the game...

Don't worry about those double posts, I'll delete them from the database later. It's a "feature" of the log system, of course. I'll fix that for next year, for this year you'll just have to live with it.

and regarding the 12.00 PM / 24.00 issue: I totally agree that it's confusing, I was confused by that on my first speedhack as well. I'll try to make that more clear next year. So for now, remember, the competition ends at 12 PM, or 12.00h on the 24 hour clock!
Niunio 23:00, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
It was hard but now the engine manages the stations correctly.

Tomorrow I'll add the "Game Over" flag and all the other stuff.
Marcello 22:47, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Not really getting anywhere. I'm really sick of C++, I'm sick of C, I'm sick of Allegro, and I'm becoming sick of OpenLayer. :-)

On the plus side, I have a cool idea I probably won't get much done on.
Steven Silvey 22:42, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Seems all of my posts have been pretty negative. This one is no exception! Haha. With nearly 36 hours down, I have trashed what little I have once again. However, I finally have an idea that I think will stick, I just have to do it in half the time. To the drawing board!
Jovoc 22:03, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Ok.. have a placeholder tile/map generator code.. now I can actually start writing the "game".

ps. sorry about double-posting the update last night, I think i hit refresh or something
Ceagon 21:51, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Slept alot longer than I ment to...
Time to program =P
muratayik 21:39, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
I finally got a game idea :P I hope I can make it tomorrow.

ahuillet: if I can finish my game, I will steal your help design :)
FalseMasterJ 21:36, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
I was originally thinking of a random map generator, But I don't got enough time.
So I made a quick map editor.
ahuillet 21:18, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
The help content browser is ready. I'm rather glad.
Graue 21:17, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Making progress. Ashrilyn made some 24x24 train bitmaps that look way better than mine, and those are in now, so you can actually tell whether you're turning left or right now. And, oh yeah, I changed my mind about the whole concept. Instead of a bunch of trains, you'll be just one train, and you scroll around a randomly assembled level shooting stuff to get more time. And there's gonna be a help screen. Stay tuned.
NyanKoneko 21:12, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Oops~ Eh heh~ Sorry about that. BTW BAF, old ladies falling from trains is awesome!
BAF 20:53, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
NyanKoneko: stop refreshing the page, you duplicate your post each time :P

Anyway, my game is almost done. Screenshot of the main part. I just have a couple thigns to tweak, then I can add more and more mini games. Thus far, my game contains no graphics aside from ASCII art. :)
ahuillet 20:53, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
I'm now working on the help screen. It looks rather nice, as you can see below. What I need now is a text wrapping function in order not to suffer too much when writing the content, I have written such a function for one of my projects, therefore I will probably rip the code from there.
NyanKoneko 20:27, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
I just woke up, and I just finished my glider model. :) Now it's time to make it fly for reals~
Niunio 20:13, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
The game engine is very near to be complete! The train machine moves along the tracks and it's possible to rotate or slide the tracks pieces. The turn motion isn't very accurated but I'll change it only if I have enough time to do it.

Now I need to put the train stations and the "Game Over" flag and the engine will be completed.

jorram 19:48, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
So, this is the end for me, I have to work today and tomorrow I have to see my gf. Good luck everyone!
ahuillet 19:44, 04 Mar 2006 GMT
Things are getting in shape. My entry is currently quite playable, what lacks for the moment is the help screen, and some tweaking of the game play. My current log(t) progression seems way too hard.
