Amarillion you bastard! ;)

The upload page said I could upload multiple times. I think I uploaded three times in all, at various times when I considered stopping where I was. The first one I uploaded is posted, it appears. The last one is the good one.

That, and my Yahoo! password seems to not work, so I can't upload the source to my Geocities page. Blarg.

It is finished.

I said that a while ago. Then I added in some new features, such as limited joystick support. :D

Here's a screenshot of the final state of the game. It probably still looks about the same as the very first one.

I made a fancy icon and in the resource script I called it "allegro_icon", but despite what the docs say, it was not made as the running program's icon. Oh well. It's uploaded. I'm pleased with it.

The only thing that perhaps is a bummer is that the game has no ending. It just goes on forever. Get as many points as possible. If I wanted to think about this game some more I might be able to fix that problem. But I don't. I've spent the entire time since this competition started thinking and programming and drawing and designing. No free time for fun. Doing the same thing with nothing else gets tiring FAST.

I hope y'all enjoy my game, otherwise I wasted an entire weekend on it! >_<

I figured I should post one second to last log entry.

I definitely have plenty of time to work, but here's a shot from Mappy of what part of my environment looks like. I designed the world a bit too large, though, and am having trouble filling it. :P

Also, if you have ideas for fun things to be lying around to throw away, join #allegro-tins on irc.freenode.net and tell me!

I told myself I wasn't going to go to bed until I had a menu in place. Then instead of implementing that menu, I got the cute idea of making bushes that can be picked up. Legend of Zelda style! (I speak of the older Zelda games, I have no idea what's done in the newer ones.)

It turned out to take a little bit longer than I intended, and I had to modify my Mappy code for it to work as I wanted it to. But it does now. Yay! So here's a screen shot. You can also see that I added some noise to my tilemap. I'm not sure what I think about it. I may revert to the flat shading, it's kinda ugly this way.

No new screen shots, as not much has changed visually. My game is officially "sweet" though. :)

Last summer I made a 12 minute mod song. It still needs a little work, and modding really isn't my style, I'd much prefer to get out my guitar to record music. That and the music TOTALLY doesn't fit the game. But regardless. It has sound, it has music, it has fire, and it's a friggin' garbage man simulator! What else do you need? I still have an entire day to design a huge world full of garbage to collect.

It's been long enough to warrant another screen shot. I cleaned up the interface, added in score, health, and actually implemented the timer. It's funny how easy it is to implement a timer. I'm lazy.

I don't remember if I wrote this out before or not, so I may be repeating myself. The idea is this: Terrorists have planted bombs all around the town in garbage cans. As the town's garbage collector, it is your task to collect and diffuse the bombs. Basically, some trash cans have bombs, some just have trash. You don't know until you put it in your truck. Then the bomb will either explode or the trash will be emptied into the truck. If there is a bomb, you have about a second to run away from the truck. Otherwise you'll get hurt. If your health goes to zero you die and it's game over. Also, there's a timer. You get more time for unloading trash at the trash burning facility. If the time rums out then the terrorists win. I dunno how, but they do. In other words, game over.

I still need:
- Music?
- Sound
- Game over
- Improved controls
- Improve art
- Finish map

I'm vain, it's true. Here's what my game looks like now. It has flames! Whee! Now it is FUN to dispose of garbage. If I were to finish now my zip file would be 23.5 KB. Note that that is only slightly more than twice the size of the screen shot I've uploaded.

Still need to do:
- Music?
- Sound
- Interface!
- Game time system
- Design a nice map
- Improve art

Seems like nobody else is posting screen shots. This one comes in at under 4KB.

Currently you can drive around in the garbage truck, get out of the garbage truck, pick up trash cans, empty them into the garbage truck, and then drive to the garbage center to empty the truck. It's the world's first (?) garbage man simulator!

I wanted to post this to show how UGLY my interface currently is. :-p And yeouch, Allegro's sprite rotating facilities SUCK BIG TIME. When I stopped programming games, I was using DirectX. It can do things much prettier.

"Trash Man" is the current name of my project. You collect garbage and take it to the trash burning center. Burning is the most economical way to eradicate trash, after all.

Then there might be other stuff. I'm not sure. We'll see how things go.
